Fusion Media Group is looking for a dynamic and highly creative video producer for a new environment-focused destination site.
Fusion Media Group (FMG) is a media company that connects with the young, diverse audiences that are shaping our future. Through fearless journalism, provoking comedy, and high-impact storytelling we elevate the stories and issues our readers and viewers are passionate about."
FMG has become one of the largest publishers on the web by producing content young, engaged audiences care about. We connect compelling content with larger audiences, registering 100M+ average monthly uniques and we reach more young adults than the competition, at 47M+ average monthly A18-34 uniques. FMG has the web's most original and beloved brands under one roof.
The ideal candidate will be super-curious, passionate and can explain the environment and related topics in a way that's entertaining and engaging, issues that might, in lesser hands, come off as boring or pedantic. Our producers have opinions backed up by facts; a witty, conversational writing voice; and an unstinting editorial eye. In short, you geek out on the environment and related themes. And you’re also a shooter, editor and producer.
As a producer, you should:
- Have 2+ years experience in digital video production with demonstrated results in creating widely shared videos on social media platforms.
- Work closely with the site’s reporters and editors to shoot and edit smart, creative video content that reflects the voice and journalism of the site.
- Independently pitch, shoot and edit (Premiere Pro) high-quality video, while also being able to work alongside crews or in pairs as needed.
- Pitch stories regularly.
- Have experience scripting social first news video and longer video explainers.
- Work collaboratively with the site’s talented and video-savvy bloggers to bring the video quality to the next level.
- Work collaboratively with other GMG sites (Gizmodo, Jezebel, Deadspin, Jalopnik, Kotaku and Lifehacker).
Simply put, NATURE, FOR HUMANS
FMG’s new destination will engage and inspire today’s generation by exploring the emotional intersection of humans and nature. It will have a clear focus on the environment zeitgeist. The future of our planet and the health of society are intertwined now more than ever, and FMG destination will offer distinct angles on all nature-related topics. It will seek to tell untold stories that resonate with super-fans, and doesn’t lose sight of the emotional connection we share with the rest of the planet.
The environmental news space is a messy ecosystem, composed of sites that specialize in everything from hard news to fun animal videos. What’s missing is a hub where young people can go to get quick, fresh commentary and insight into the issues that matter to them. This would be a site about the environment that’s actually for and about people. So, nature, for humans.
