Ellen Page Brings Her Girlfriend to the Red Carpet, Tells Everyone She's in Love

Freeheld, the new Ellen Page/Julianne Moore drama about a lesbian couple struggling for civil rights, premiered at The Toronto International Film Festival last night. The media present at the event got a huge surprise: Ellen Page and her girlfriend, Samantha Thomas, walked the red carpet together for the first time.

NBC reports that the actress chose to bring Thomas onto the red carpet because the two are ready to say that they’re in love. Plus, Freeheld (which looks pretty amazing, if the previews are to be believed), is a personally important film for Page, who came out as a lesbian last year. She told E! that walking in holding hands with her partner made the evening just that much more special.

During the premiere event, close friend Ruby Rose couldn’t help but gush about her close friend’s latest project.

“When your best friend is the most talented, funny, beautiful, generous, humble human being it’s hard to not smile until it hurts,” she wrote on Instagram. “Ellen, I am so proud of you and will always be grateful for everything you are and will always be to me.”

Man, I can’t even get my best friends to admit they like me in public!

Page and Thomas made the evening even more special by wearing coordinated outfits. Though no one has yet topped Justin and Britney in their matching denim, the entire thing was pretty goddamn adorable.
